Abortion Industry Bail-out in Health Care Bill

July 30, 2009

Among all the nearly innumerable problems with this bill there is a great big heavy foot in the door to providing “free” (tax-payer funded) abortion on-demand for every American citizen.  If you have an ipod and an hour, there is a great program you can listen to here.  Good speakers and good information, I only wish they had footnotes.  The legislation is intentionally vague and one needs to do a bit of legwork to add 2 to the other 2 way over there and make 4.

From what I pieced together, the health insurance is required to cover “essential health benefits” which, under the terms of the bill, are determined by appointed, unelected officials with no accountability to us…currently Kathleen Sebelius and others.  If  this group determines that abortion is essential care (how long will they deliberate, I wonder), we will all be paying for abortions with our tax dollars and medical professionals will no longer have conscience protection to prevent them from having to participate.  My personal extrapolation is that it may be only a matter of time before abortion facilities are mandated in all those “underserved” abortion-hostile communities in the name of equal access to essential services.

Links to articles for further information are here, here and here and the behemoth bill itself.  Once you feel sufficiently informed, click here to get to a form letter (edit-enabled, though it’s pretty good as is) that you can send quickly and easily to all three of your reps at once.  As you know, on this runaway train of a Legislative session, time is of the essence.  By the way, Betsy McCaughey (who helped to take down Hilary-care) has already read the entire bill twice.   Has your Congressman has done as much?  Mine hasn’t…just votes according to conscience…let me know if you can figure that one out…video here.
